INDIANA UNIVERSITY INDIANAPOLIS AND PURDUE UNIVERSITY IN INDIANAPOLIS
BY PURCHASING A REQUIRED MEAL PLAN YOU AGREE TO ACCEPT ALL OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE MEAL PLAN AGREEMENT AS OUTLINED BELOW.
- Required Plans: Any admitted student living in Ball Residence Hall, North Hall or University Tower or any department or organization that occupies bed space within those areas.
- Elective Plans: Any admitted student not residing in Ball Residence Hall, North Hall, or University Tower.
- Early Move In Plan: Students moving into Ball Residence Hall, North Hall or University Tower prior the last day of regular semester move-in are required to participate in and are automatically assigned the Early Move-In Meal Plan. Students not moving into the required meal plan residence halls but have an elective traditional plan (All Access- E or 14 Per Week-E Plans) may purchase this plan.
- Required meal plans are effective and binding for both fall and spring semesters unless you have a spring only housing contract, in this case it is effective and binding for spring semester only.
- Elective meal plans are effective and binding for the semester for which it was purchased.
- The terms and conditions begin on the date of purchase for elective plan holders and the date of assignment for required plan holders.
- Early Move-In Meal Plan Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars are available for use starting with the housing and residence life early move in for Bridge Week which is two weekends before the first day of fall semester class. This plan provides three Meal Swipes daily, one swipe for each meal time (breakfast, lunch and dinner), at Tower Dining until fall semester board meal plans are activated on the Saturday before fall semester start. Early Move-In Meal Swipes expire at this time. Dining Dollars expire at the close of business the day after the last day of spring semester final exams.
- Fall Semester Board Meal Plans (All Access 7 Day, All Access 5 Day and 14 Per Week Meal Plan) Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars are available for use on the first Saturday before the first day of fall semester classes. Meal Swipes expire at the close of dinner service at Tower Dining on the last day of fall semester final exams. Dining Dollars expire at the close of business the day after the last day of spring semester final exams.
- Fall Semester Block Meal Plans Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars are available for use on the second Saturday before the first day of fall semester classes. Meal Swipes expire at the close of dinner service at Tower Dining on the last day of spring semester final exams. Dining Dollars expire at the close of business the day after the last day of spring semester final exams.
- Spring Semester Board Meal Plans (All Access 7 Day, All Access 5 Day and 14 Per Week Meal Plan) Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars are available for use on the Sunday before the first day of spring semester classes. Meal Swipes expire at the close of dinner service at Tower Dining on the last day of spring semester final exams. Dining Dollars expire at the close of business the day after the last day of spring semester final exams.
- Spring Semester Block Meal Plans Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars are available for use on the Sunday before the first day of spring semester classes. Meal Swipes expire at the close of dinner service at Tower Dining on the last day of spring semester final exams. Dining Dollars expire at the close of business the day after the last day of spring semester final exams.
- There are 228 days of meal service (board days) at Tower Dining in the regular academic year (116 in fall and 112 in spring).
Tower Dining is closed during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break and Spring Break. Students staying on campus during these times must plan accordingly as the meal plan does not include meals during these breaks.
- There are 7 additional days of meal service at Tower Dining beginning two Saturdays before the first day of fall semester classes. Tower Dining is open during this time for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to accommodate the Bridge Week Program and Early Move-In residents.
- A Meal Swipe is an entry into the Tower Dining. One Meal Swipe allows you one entry.
- Meal Swipes can be used in one of three ways: 1) for a dine in meal at Tower Dining, 2) as a Swipe Swap meal for carry out from Tower dining, or 3) as a Swipe Swap meal for Tower's Den by Denny's.
- Meal Swipes are for the exclusive use of the Plan Carrier and are not transferable.
- The All Access 7 Day plan has no restrictions on the number of times the carrier can dine-in at Tower Dining per day or per week Sunday through Saturday. Swipe Swaps are restricted to two times per day. Unused Meal Swipes and Swipe Swaps do not carry over from day to day or week to week.
- The All Access 5 Day plan has no restrictions on the number of times the carrier can dine-in at Tower Dining Monday through Friday, however meal swipes cannot be used on the weekends. Swipe Swaps are restricted to two times per day and can also only be used Monday through Friday. Unused Meal Swipes and Swipe Swaps do not carry over from day to day or week to week.
- The 14 Per Week meal plan allows the carrier to dine-in at Tower Dining up to 14 times per week. Swipe Swaps are restricted to two times per day. Unused Meal Swipes and Swipe Swaps do not carry over from day to day or week to week.
- Block Plans and Apartment Plans allows the carrier to dine-in at Tower Dining up to the number of meal swipes included with the plan, for example, The Block 10 Meal Plan includes 10 Meal Swipes to dine-in 10 times at Tower Dining for the semester. The number of meal swipes available in each plan is for the entire semester. Swipe Swaps are restricted to two times per day. Unused Meal Swipes do carry over from fall semester to spring semester. However, any unused fall or spring meal swipes at the end of spring semester will be forfeited.
- One Dining Dollar is a monetary equivalent to $1.14 US dollars which includes a 5% meal plan discount and 7% sales tax saving.
- Dining Dollars can be used for purchases at any IU Indianapolis Dining Services location including the Tower Dining located in University Tower. IU Indianapolis Dining Services does not operate the vending machines, hospital cafeterias, or off-campus Crimson Card partners and cannot be used at these locations, Visit www.dineoncampus.com/iui under “Menus & Locations” to see the list of food locations.
- Dining Dollars can be used for guests at any IU Indianapolis Dining Services location. The Meal Plan carrier must always be present when using Dining Dollars for others.
- Dining Dollars carry over from fall to spring semester but not from spring semester to any future semester.
- Meal Swipes cannot be used for another guest under any circumstance. Only Bonus Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars may be used for guests.
- In the event that the Crimson Card ID picture does not match the person presenting the Crimson Card, the card will be confiscated and reported to Office of Student Conduct.
- All meal plan charges will be placed on your student bursar account.
- You agree to make payment of all meal plan charges. Payments may be paid on-line by logging into your One.IU account and selecting the Make a Payment link using IU Bursar Pay, or in person at the Campus Center. Checks must be made payable to Indiana University. Payments are applied to the oldest debt first. Therefore, it is recommended that you ensure that your Bursar account is kept current at all times.
- Your meal plan charges are billed in full on a per semester basis. You will receive your bill directly from the Bursar’s Office and you are responsible for making timely payments according to the Bursar due dates with your meal plan charges paid in full prior to the mid-term exam period. Failure to pay in accordance with Bursar due dates may result in penalties and/or actions as defined by the Bursar and may include deactivation of the meal plan at the discretion of the university. - Payment of Meal Plan charges (including applicable buyout fees) is not contingent upon receipt of financial aid monies or scholarships. You agree that you are responsible for all Meal Plan payments and charges not covered by financial aid assistance or scholarships.
- IU Indianapolis and Purdue in Indianapolis students that have a signed housing contract for Ball Residence Hall, North Hall or University Tower will be assigned the All Access 7 Day Meal Plan for the full academic year.
- Traditional Meal Plans (All Access 7 Day, All Access 5 Day and 14 Per Week Meal Plans) will be calculated on a daily basis.
- In the event that one moves into a required meal plan housing facility earlier than the standard move in date the Early Move In Meal Plan will be charged automatically to the bursar account.
- Required meal plan students are automatically assigned the All Access 7 Day Plan upon confirmation of a Housing Contract with Ball Hall, North Hall or University Tower. This plan may be changed to the All Access 5 Day Plan, or for those with sophomore class standing or above, the 14 Per Week Meal Plan. These semester changes can occur through 11:59 p.m. on the second Friday of the fall semester. Changes for the spring semester meal plan may occure through 11:59 p.m. of the second Friday of spring semester. You can switch your dining plan online from the meal plan website.
- Elective meal plan students can switch a meal plan during the first two weeks of the semester by cancelling one plan and purchasing a new plan. Any usage from the cancelled plan will be charged to the bursar account; usage cannot be deducted from the new plan.
- Cancellations of required meal plans are aligned with the Housing and Resident Life cancellation policy. A Required Meal Plan may only be canceled upon being released from the Housing Contract.
- You are responsible for meal plan charges through the date of your official cancellation from your living unit. The date of cancellation is determined by the official date of move out recorded by Housing and Residence Life or the last date the meal plan was used, whichever comes later.
- No adjustment or proration of meal plan charges will be made for move outs on or after the final four weeks of a semester.
- A meal plan cancellation buyout fee will be assessed at 20 percent of the meal plan semester cost and is separate from the housing buyout fee.
- For those that remain a student at the university but are no longer living in Ball Hall, North Hall or University Tower, you are eligible to purchase an elective meal plan and will be exempt from the meal plan buyout fee by purchasing an Apartment Meal Plan or higher.
- A buyout fee will not be assessed if one of the following conditions exist: the official date of cancellation is prior to the official date of move in; a student is academically dismissed; a student is called to active military duty; a student’s visa application is denied; a student is denied admission to IU Indianapolis; or a student who leaves Housing due to a medical condition or ADA requirement.
- Cancellations of fall and spring elective meal plans are accepted through 11:59 p.m. the second Friday of fall and spring semesters, respectively.
- Cancellation requests will only be considered under specific circumstances outlined below:
- If a student is academically dismissed
- If participating in an IU INdianapolis sponsored program that requires being out of state (e.g., internship, student teaching, overseas study)
- If graduating before the end of the Agreement period
- If called to active military duty
- If a visa application is denied
- If Accessible Educational Services (AES) provides Meal Plans with medical documentation of a serious medical issue necessitating a medical withdrawal from the University, accommodation request form.
- Should any of these conditions apply, please notify Meal Plans immediately at meals@iu.edu for further assistance with cancellation requests.
- The date of cancellation is determined by the date the Meal Plan is deactivated in the Crimson Card system.
- Traditional Meal Plans (All Access 7 Day, All Access 5 Day and 14 Per Week Meal Plan) are prorated to the date of deactivation and based on a daily rate.
- Block Meal Plan charges are based on usage of Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars.
